Marriage proposal left one bride ‘pensive over the loss of her long-time boyfriend’
The beauty and brains of Argentina and Puerto Rico have been married for an undisclosed number of years after meeting through the pageants of their respective countries, according to a newly-married beauty queen.
Evelina Marquez, 29, was crowned Miss Puerto Rico in October 2016 in the capital of the islands.
‘We met face to face, in a mall, and after that we decided to meet again and make it official,’ she told AFP news agency on Monday of the international wedding that took place at a beach in the capital San Juan.

The two women exchanged vows in a beach ceremony held by the local governor in the capital on Monday.
Marquez, who was crowned Miss Puerto Rico in 2016, is married to her fiancé Alexis Esteves, 27, who is a Puerto Rican actor and athlete.
‘We knew that we were going to get married and that the only way to take this step was to do it together,’ she said.
The two women met at the Miss Puerto Rico 2016 beauty pageant, in the city of Ponce, in October 2016.
‘I’m really happy with my decision,’ Marquez said after the wedding ceremony.
Her stunning gown with an elaborate train, which her mother designed, was described as’sensational’ by Puerto Rican newspaper Diario Libre.
An Instagram account, ‘The Dress,’ with the hashtag #ElDiaDeFotos, has since been created to document Marquez’s glamorous life.
